About Bacteriostatic Water (Pfizer)

Bacteriostatic Water (BAC Water) is a sterile, non-pyrogenic solution of water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which acts as a preservative to inhibit bacterial growth. It’s commonly used to dilute or dissolve peptides and other medications before injection. Because of the benzyl alcohol content, BAC water can be safely used multiple times from the same vial (within 28 days of opening), making it a convenient and hygienic choice for research or laboratory applications.

How pure it is. The sample is separated into everything it contains and the compound is measured as a percentage of the total. Method: HPLC.
That it is the right compound. The molecule is weighed and matched against what this peptide should weigh. Method: mass spectrometry.
No bacterial endotoxins. Fever-causing bacterial fragments that a purity test will never reveal. Method: LAL test.

Reconstitution

This product is supplied as a lyophilised powder and must be reconstituted before use. Let the vial reach room temperature, wipe both septa with an alcohol pad, then add bacteriostatic water slowly down the inner wall of the vial rather than directly onto the cake. Peptides are shear sensitive.

Swirl gently until dissolved. Never shake. The solution should be clear and free of particulates.

Store at 20-25° celcius.

Because our products are lyophilised, they remain stable during ambient shipping for several months. For long-term storage, keep unopened lyophilised vials at −20 °C or colder and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
